Web Browsers
by JonoMedia on Apr.06, 2009, under Web Solutions
There’s more than one way to view the internet.

A lot of people are under the impression that the only way to go online & browse the internet is via Internet Explorer. This common misconception is partly down to the fact Microsoft bundle Internet Explorer within it’s Windows Operating system as standard.
Every time you update the web pages on your website JonoMedia test your new updates in the most popular Internet browsers.
There are a number of other ways to view the internet via various web browsers, all of which function in very much the same way as Internet Explorer, yet at the same time carry a number of benefits & surfer preferences.
Some new webmasters make the mistake of thinking that if you test for Internet Explorer then that is enough.
That isn’t true. Mozilla Firefox use is gaining a lot of ground so, for instance, if you don’t test for Firefox usage then you’ll miss out on a lot of good website visitors if your web pages don’t look the way you want them to. Even if you test for Firefox and IE you’ll still miss out on valuable traffic as there are other browsers that get quite a bit of usage.
JonoMedia test the following list of browsers with your web pages:
Internet Explorer
Firefox
Safari
Google Chrome
Opera
Flock
Netscape Navigator
Omniweb
These are currently the most popular web browsers on the market and while the smaller browsers do not enjoy huge usage, there are enough users that you should test your web pages for them. IE and Firefox you have likely heard of.
Safari is used by the majority of Mac users although there is now a version for Windows. Chrome is Google’s new browser that involves the aggregation of features from several other browsers. Flock is popular among social media users so we wouldn’t leave that one out. Opera has a few unique features that make it attractive to a small minority of Internet users.
JonoMedia are sure to test your web pages in the latest versions of these browsers before uploading them to your website.

.COM or .CO.UK ?
by JonoMedia on Mar.07, 2009, under Web Solutions
Is it best to register .COM or .CO.UK domains?
This is a question we get asked a lot.
Domain names are relatively inexpensive to register, JonoMedia take the hassle out of this by doing all of this for you quickly and easily.
Our personal opinion on this issue is if they are available register both.
Our reasoning is as follows, we believe the .COM being the most internationally recognised global domain extension gives your brand a worldwide feel online & although your main aim may well be to do business all over the world, much like JonoMedia do, the .CO.UK has a more personal, closer to home feel for your UK based business.
At the same time if your online business truly does become the success you envisage, registering these domain extensions stops people from trying to take advantage of your hard earned success.
If you expect your site to be successful, register as many of the domain name variants you can afford, though if you want our opinion, we would suggest the .COM, .CO.UK and probably the .NET variations should they be available.
What we tend to do is host our clients on their .COM extension and forward the .CO.UK & .NET to the same address.
The same applies to our international clients.
For our Spanish clients we tend to register the .COM, .NET and .ES extensions.
Using the same logic for our Canadian clients we go for .COM, .NET & .CA and so on dependant on the country of origin.
Web Domains
by JonoMedia on Mar.06, 2009, under Web Solutions
The first part in doing business online is obtaining a suitable web address for your business.
JonoMedia make this easy for you, we do all the hard work in finding the perfect web domain to suit your company, offering plenty of advice in the process of making your mind up which one would suit you best.
How do these web addresses or domain names work?
Registering a domain doesn’t automatically make your Web site appear when visitors enter your domain into a Web browser.
You have to upload your Web site to a computer that hosts the site and assigns a numeric address, called an IP address, to your domain – all of which are done for you by JonoMedia as part of the service.
Your domain and associated IP address are stored in a database with every other domain and associated IP address.
When visitors enter your domain into a Web browser, your domain works like an address forwarding service by forwarding visitors to the IP address where your Web site is stored.
We use domain names instead of IP addresses because most people find it easier to remember a name rather than a series of numbers.
If you’re thinking about registering more than one domain name, you’ve got the right idea.
Registering and using multiple domains names is great for building your business and can help you create a dynamic online identity.
When you register multiple domain names, you can:
- Keep your competition from registering a domain name that draws customers to them instead of you.
- Promote the different products and services you offer.
- Drive more traffic to your Web site.
- Enjoy more opportunities to market to — and be listed in — search engines.
- Create distinct advertising strategies that reach different target markets.
- Provide customers more ways to find you when searching the Internet.
- Capture common misspellings of your domain name, instead of sending visitors to an error page.
- Protect your brand and online identity from those who may have unsavory purposes.
Kruger National Park
by JonoMedia on Mar.05, 2009, under Imaging
We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to photograph the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa. It covers 18,989 square km (7,332 sq mi) and extends 350 km (217 mi) from north to south and 60 km (37 mi) from east to west.
To the west and south of the Kruger National Park are the two South African provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga. In the north is Zimbabwe, and to the east is Mozambique. It is now part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a peace park that links Kruger National Park with the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and with the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique.

An early start is required to catch the best of the wild animals in their natural environment.

The enigma that is the leopard. Very hard to spot, let alone catch on camera.

You can see why it’s advisable to keep your distance. Here we are being warned not to approach.

Here you can see the Elephant in it’s natural habitat offering you a glimpse to scale of the enormity of the Kruger National Park.

Here we catch a monkey pondering over his early morning thoughts.

A Zebra & Below a family.
